Patents In Iraq Gone To Seed
This just hit my radar screen, and finding it an interesting read, recommend: Iraq’s New Patent Law: A Declaration of War Against Farmers.
Certainly the article's veracity should not be swallowed whole. For example, the Iraq report asserts, "Contrary to industry assertions, GM seeds do not reduce the use of pesticides." Right now there's an April 30, 2005 ScienceNews article in front of my nose titled "Insecticide Inside - Gene-modified rice cuts chemical spraying in China" that I find quite credible.
So, put your skeptical glasses on, but consider the grains of truth in the above article on patent law in Iraq. Then consider how corporate interests are driving patent reform in this country.
