DirecTV To Appeal

DirecTV, its ticket punched a couple of weeks ago for $78.9 million for infringing a Finisar patent, follows in the fubar footsteps of Research In Motion and Boston Communications, vowing to appeal.

Larry Germer, Finisar's trial counsel, relayed in a prepared statement, "In reaching a unanimous verdict on all counts, including willful infringement, the jurors sent a strong message regarding the claims in this case."

DirecTV wistfully chimed, "We believe the evidence will ultimately show there was no infringement. DirecTV continues to believe that Finisar's claims are invalid and that DirecTV's systems were developed by its own engineers based on pre-existing technology." DirecTV also expressed its abiding belief in the tooth fairy.
