Prudent Rambus
Rambus
took the bird in the hand, accepting a lowered damages award in its infringement
case against Hynix Semiconductor for infringing computer memory patents.
A $307 million jury award had been slashed to $133.6 million by the presiding judge, reconsidering lame expert witness testimony for damages on behalf of Rambus. The $133 m does not include prejudgment interest or damages for Hynix infringement since 2005, both of which Rambus is still pursuing.
For the previous installment, and a background briefing, here's previous Patent Prospector coverage.
Rambus is still on the hunt against Samsung Electronics and Micron Technology for infringing the same patents. Infineon has already settled with Rambus.
