Big Media Blowout

In one of the smaller ironies limping around, Big Media went bust, and the creditor clean-up crew is trying to scrape some revenue out of selling 6,385,592 and a continuation application; a bit shabby offering in lack of proper maintenance, but potential exists to rock e-commerce companies that offer personalized advertising.

6,385,592 is a continuation of 5,933,811, which expired for non-payment of maintenance fees. The continuation application sorely needs a reply to office action. Here's the poop sheet (PowerPoint format).

Claim 27 of '592, the broadest claim -

27. A method of providing a customized advertisement, comprising selecting with an advertisement provider computer, at least one advertisement based in part on consumer demographic data and content provider demographic data.

Word is that bidding starts at a cool $1/2 million.

If this little booger gets flicked on Google or some other "big media" player down the road, remember you heard the warning shot here first. Just exactly what that means is beyond me. ;-)
