Rocket Docket Bill Passes House

H.R. 5418, for a pilot project of throwing spare change at federal district courts to streamline patent litigation, passed by voice vote in the House today.

H.R. 5418 was introduced in May by Rep. Darell Issa (R-CA) & Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA).

The companion bill in the Senate, S. 3923, was recently introduced by Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT) and Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA).

These bills are not controversial. If Sen. Hatch pushes a bit, the legislation could become law before the 109th Congress adjourns.

Earlier Patent Prospector coverage: September 13, 2006; May 23, 2006; February 8, 2006.
