Headphoned

Bose is attempting noise reduction in the market for headphones, lodging complaint at the ITC against Panasonic, Creative Labs, and Logitech, among others, for infringing 5,181,252 and 6,597,792.

Logitech is already in discussions with Bose, as it says it no longer imports the headphones at issue.

The '252 patent has a 1989 filing date, but a broad claim that may be vulnerable to invalidity attack. '792 has a 1999 priority date, with a single broad claim, and seems likely invalid.

Patents aside, Bose makes incredible $300 headphones, both on-ear and enveloping the ear; worth every penny. This music lover owns both QC2 (enveloping) and QC3 (on-ear) models.
